Welcome to the Guidance Office! Our mission as your child's counselors is to assist you and his/her teachers in facilitating Belleview Santos Elementary's mission statement and goals for each and every student.we are committed to creating a safe, well- rounded learning experience that encourages all students to reach their highest potential and help them to be productive, responsible and compassionate members of society. Our Vision: Providing the tools to achieve infinite possibilities.

We would like to invite you to come in and get to know us and the services we offer and those offered from this office. You may come by school or call during "teacher hours" and make an appointment with us. You don't need to wait until you have a problem or special reason!  We hope that, together, we can lay a good foundation for future success and achievement by making your child's years at Belleview Santos Elementary a happy and rewarding learning experience.

Counselors Goal:

  1. Help children understand themselves and others.
  2. Help to identify children with special needs.
  3. Provide crisis intervention.
  4. Develop plans to prevent academic/behavioral problems from developing.
  5. Provide Resiliency skill lessons
  6. Coordinate the efforts of other professionals working for children.
  7. Promote positive attitudes toward persons of diverse cultural, racial, ability, and socioeconomic background
  8. Referral of outside community agencies.
  9. Collaborate with teachers/parents to meet the learning needs of learners.

General Information

As parents, it is your responsibility to assure your child/children have regular, timely attendance. However, if a child is not in his/her classroom by 7:35, he/she must check in at the Front Office before reporting to class. Also, if children are chronically absent, tardy, or picked up early, notices may be sent from the Guidance Office in accordance with Marion County School System policies and FL statutes. Upon your child's return to school, send a hand-written note as to the reason for the absence. If your child was seen by a doctor, please send the doctor's note.

The Arnette House provides counseling both on and off our main campus to help youth ages 6-17 and their families resolve crisis situations and stay together. This may include opening lines of communication, teaching effective conflict resolution skills, or reducing high-risk behaviors. • Individual and group counseling (Depression, anxiety, self-esteem and identity issues, trauma, family conflict, and more) • Human trafficking screenings • Evidenced-based family counseling for children ages 6-11 • Link families with needed community resources • Children in Need of Services (CINS)/Families in Need of Services (FINS) case management for attendance and behavioral issues

Big Bear Behavioral Health clinicians and case managers work diligently to pair clients with a service provider that is best suited to meet their individual needs. Clinicians and case managers travel to see clients for inhome and in-school services. Center for Autism & Related Services (CARD) 352-273-0581 CARD

serves children and adults of all levels of intellectual functioning who have autism, autistic-like disabilities, pervasive developmental disorder, dual sensory impairments (deaf-blindness), or a vision or hearing loss with another disabling condition. We are required by the legislation that created CARD to have documentation of a qualifying diagnosis in order for an individual to receive our services. The diagnosis can be made by a physician, such as a pediatrician, psychiatrist or neurologist, or by a licensed psychologist. In cases where no diagnosis has been made, we encourage parents to call us for information on where they can go for a diagnostic evaluation.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is here to be a beacon of help and hope for children, adolescents, and adults suffering from mental health and substance use disorders. The services at our behavioral health hospital in Orlando, FL, help patients gain the skills they need to walk the path to recovery. We use specialized treatments and supportive services to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programs. All of them feature evidence-based therapies that meet the individual needs of our patients. Inpatient programs include separate programs for children and adolescents. Our Virtual Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program consists of a CBT/DBT based curriculum which can include medication management, parent education, and family sessions if needed.

Choices, Chances, Changes offers a variety of services tailored to individual, family, and agency needs/requirements. We incorporate a brief therapeutic model with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) directed at helping individuals and families succeed in their potential lives and environments. When specialized or longer-term services are needed, we further incorporate CBT, psychoeducational opportunities, and/or more intensive counseling services.

LifeStream Behavioral Health is providing a free school based or virtual substance abuse prevention services for youth ages 12-17. PPG Reconnect is a 6-week program with 2 weekly sessions. Students can participate during the school year, school break, as well as while suspended or attending an alternative placement. The program is designed to help youth make healthy personal choices, improve social skills, target anger management, while reducing high-risk behaviors.
